Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common issue but many men are too embarrassed to do anything about it. Since it is a sexual problem, there tends to be a lot of misinformation about it. There are tons of ED myths and the following article is dedicated to debunking some of them.

Myth 1: ED Is A Normal Part Of Growing Older

This is probably one of the most detrimental beliefs about the condition. There’s nothing normal about ED and you shouldn’t just accept it. In fact, many older gentlemen are capable of having a satisfying sex life that isn’t influenced by their age.

ED does tend to be more common in older men but the reason could be circulatory problems that usually appear later on in life and affect very few younger guys. Regardless of your age, you should seek medical attention. ED could be a symptom of an underlying medical condition that is treatable.

Myth 2: The Condition Is Caused By Something Being Wrong With Your Penis

This is a massive mistake! Erectile dysfunction could affect a penis that is perfectly healthy in every other sense of the word. Quite often, the problem is caused by a medical condition that affects another part of the body.

Erectile dysfunction occurs when men find it difficult to get and sustain an erection. Usually, the problem stems from a circulatory problem. If blood vessels are blocked and only small quantities of blood get to enter the penis, the erection isn’t going to be a massive one.

ED could also be caused by psychological conditions and stress. The human body is a complex system. An isolated event isn’t very likely. Medical problems usually tend to involve a few organs or mechanisms, which is why you can’t simply blame the reproductive tract for ED.

Myth 3: Viagra-Like Pills Are The Only Treatment

Men that suffer from ED believe that the blue pill is the only option that they have. Viagra has been popularized so much by advertising that guys suffering from the problem don’t even bother looking for an alternative.

Natural male enhancement supplements and exercises can be used to improve erections and enable guys to keep a hard penis for a long period of time. The supplements are based on natural vasodilators like gingko biloba. These plant-based extracts increase the size of the blood vessels, allowing more blood to pass through.

Supplements aren’t created equal – this is something to keep in mind before giving such products a try. The types of ingredients and their concentration will both affect the results that natural pills will be capable of delivering.

Myth 4: Your Choice Of Underwear Could Cause ED

This is a weird myth that many guys seem to believe in. The premise is that tight underwear could have an impact on circulation, which could potentially have an impact on the quality of erections.

Underwear choice has nothing to do with ED. Tight underwear, however, could contribute to another serious issue – infertility.

Very tight undergarments keep the testicles constricted and they also increase the temperature inside by keeping them close to the body. A high temperature will damage and eventually kill sperm cells. If you’re trying to get a partner pregnant, you should opt for underwear like boxers.

Myth 5: You Suffer From ED If You Have Erection Problems Once In A While

Getting an erection is the result of several complex processes. Human sexuality isn’t easy to explain. Sometimes, men could find it difficult to get an erection due to fatigue. In other instances, the problem will be caused by stress, relationship problems or undergoing major life changes.

The inability to get an erection once in a while isn’t considered a medical condition. As long as the issue doesn’t interfere with your love life and you get over it without medical assistance, you are not suffering from ED.
